Figure Skating On Your Block

We foster fun and inspire a lifelong passion for figure skating, while developing champions on and off the ice. Taking your first steps in the world of figure skating is an adventure that can transform into a lifelong pursuit of your personal skating journey. For some skaters, that involves chasing a spot on Team USA, and for others, it is simply getting the opportunity to participate in a sport they love.

The goal of the Figure Skating On Your Block program is to provide an opportunity for all boys & girls ages 5 to 14 in the greater Chicago area to participate in figure skating, for fun, fitness and achievement, in a safe and positive environment. We support and strive to embrace the passion for figure skating in each participant within our community by providing a full range of quality programs, taught by certified U.S. Figure Skating coaches.

About the Program

Learn to Skate

The Learn to Skate program is designed to welcome students with no prior ice skating experience to the rink environment. This 10-12 week program will focus on basic skating concepts so that students may learn to improve their balance and coordination on the ice while learning how to skate. After completing the Learn to Skate program, students will progress to the Learn to Figure Skate program.

Learn to Figure Skate & Compete

Once skaters have completed the Learn to Skate levels, the next step is our group skating instruction that follows the framework of United States Figure Skating (USFS) to serve the needs of both recreational and competitive skaters. This program is exclusively for our participants who wish to continue more advanced instruction in the figure skating elements. Jumps, Spins and Moves in the Field are the focus. Throughout the year, our kids see their progress concretely measured using the U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills test.

Do you want to become a competitive figure skater? Have you dreamed of going to the Olympics? Well, before you can take off on the Olympic ice, you’ll need to get through your training.

Figure skating has levels? That’s right! The most popular teaching systems endorsed by US Figure Skating is the Basic Six system. Once you have passed beyond these levels, you can start exploring your favorite area of figure skating, be it singles, pairs, ice dancing, or synchronized skating. After you pass the Basic Six levels you can continue on to beginner, pre-preliminary, and preliminary competition level programs.
